Have you heard about Water Softeners?

What is ‘hard water’?

‘Hard water’ is water that contains a large amount of minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. It may not necessarily be dirty water but will often contain contaminants such as iron, copper and manganese. Water is considered ‘hard’ when water contains over 120 milligrams per litre of mineral content. These contaminants can cause staining to your bathroom and laundry fixtures, fittings and even your motor vehicles.

A fantastic solution to help alleviate the harshness from your water is a Water Softener. As the name suggests, a water softener removes these harsh minerals and therefore ‘softens’ the water. While water quality in Australia is regulated,  the hardness of water is not.

Water softener benefits

There are multiple benefits associated with using ‘soft water’ throughout your home. Your hair and skin will be soft and healthier, it  can make cleaning an easier task as the water lathers and rinses more freely. There is reduced potential for soap scum to build up on shower screens, bathroom tiles & fittings. It can also extend the life of your appliances, allowing you to save money by replacing these items less frequently, which in turn, will also benefit the environment by reducing waste .

In a nutshell, a Water Softener can help with the following:

  • Easier Cleaning
  • Allow for your skin and hair to look and feel cleaner
  • Extend the life of your appliances;
  • Save you money
  • Benefit the environment
