Chemical-free way to sterilise and purify rain, bore and dam water

Protect yourself from water-borne E.coli, viruses and cysts

Drinking contaminated water can cause diarrhoea and vomiting, as well as respiratory and neurological health problems.

Giardiasis, E.coli and Salmonella can all be caused by drinking dirty water and can be potentially life-threatening.

Remember, water can look, taste and smell clean and still be harbouring some really nasty contaminants.

W2W Ultra Violet filtration systems are designed to be used with mains fed filtration systems to destroy up to 99% of bacteria.

Our UV disinfection systems meet Australian WaterMark standards and do not affect the colour, taste or smell of your drinking water.

How does it work?

Municipal mains water has to meet strict water quality standards but if you rely on bore or surface water, the risk of harmful water-borne contaminants is greater.

Ultra Violet water treatment systems need to be connected to a power supply and use a UV Lamp or Globe to generate electromagnetic radiation.

The process destroys the genetic DNA of micro-organisms like viruses, cysts and pathogenic protozoa.

W2W’s UV filtration systems generate UV-C light which is a highly effective germicidal water treatment.

It is important to remove contaminants including iron, manganese and tannins BEFORE treating water with UV Disinfection.

Water2water recommends combining UV disinfection with a Whole House or Under Sink Water Filtration System to remove up to 99% of contaminants before sterilising water ready for consumption.

Safe way to treat your water

Ultra Violet (UV) systems offer an effective and reliable disinfection system for treating rain, bore, tank and municipal mains water.

UV filters destroy viruses, algae, mould and protozoa including Cryptosporidium, Giardia Lamblia and E.coli.

We recommend combining a Water2water mains-fed water filtration system to remove metals, iron and up to 99% of unwanted chemicals and contaminants before UV water treatment.

Commercial and domestic UV filtration systems are available and come with a UV lamp life monitor with audible and visual alerts.

It is easy to replace the lamps without having to drain the system.

Installation and servicing

Whole House filter systems with UV treatments are mains fed and need to be installed by a qualified plumber or water filtration expert.

Regular servicing, filter changes, system sanitisation and UV Lamp replacement are recommended to maintain performance and guarantee safe drinking water.

Carbon and sediment filters in water filtration systems need to be replaced every 6 to 12 months, depending on the amount of water you use and the quality of the source water.

Visual and audible alerts will tell you when the UV levels are dropping and the lamp needs replacing.

FAQ's

If your home or business is connected to a municipal water supply, it should meet strict water quality guidelines so that you don’t need a UV system.

However, if you live in a remote area that relies on bore, dam or surface water, your water supply may be exposed to harmful bacteria before it reaches your property.

Water storage tanks and old pipework are more vulnerable to contaminants.

Your state’s water authority regularly monitors and reports on local water quality.

It is important to filter water before treatment with a UV light to make sure that all solid contaminants like iron and manganese are removed.

UV light is not a filter, so microorganisms and suspended matter will not be removed from UV-treated water.

UV systems kill microbes by exposing water to the right light wavelength, which destroys the DNA of bacteria, fungi, viruses and cysts so they can no longer reproduce.

Boiling water uses heat to kill bacteria and microorganisms but it will not remove contaminants like metals.

UV systems also treat water to remove bacteria and viruses and it is far quicker than the process of boiling and then cooling water to drink.

You also need to remove metals and solids from water before using a UV system as they can block the flow of UV light which disinfects the water as it passes through.
